I've been going to Red Coat for over 35 years and they have the best burgers around. Went there today and had several thoughts: 1. Burgers are still great. 2. The Ranch dressing is made on site and is excellent. 3. Waitstaff were extremely personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. That said, a number of critiques: 1. Overall the place is becoming dingy. From the parking lot to the exterior appearance of the building, to the carpet, to the condition of the walls and fixtures, everything needs an upgrade. Tables and chairs were sticky and the carpet really needs to be replaced. 2. The salad had a substantial amount of brown, wilted lettuce. The great Ranch dressing couldn't compensate for the lettuce. I realize the charm of Red Coat is the old pub feel so don't expect it to look like a brand new, modern place. In fact, I'd be disappointed if it did. That said, cleanliness and visual appeal are two of the first things I note when choosing a restaurant and I suspect this is the case with many other diners as well. I really like the place and want to see it continue to succeed for the next 35 years. I think an investment in the facility would assure this.

Red Coat Tavern delivers one of the best burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked to order, juicy, and bursting with flavor, every bite was spot on. The fresh trimmings elevated the burger even more, and the fries were crispy and delicious - don't forget the zip sauce and garlic aioli. The service was equally impressive--attentive and friendly throughout. While there's usually a wait if you're coming for dinner, trust me, it's absolutely worth it. This place is a must-visit for burger lovers!

We stopped in on a Friday night and got seated immediately. We each ordered a cheeseburger and quickly realized why Redcoat Tavern has been voted best burger. It definitely lives up to the hype.

Piedmontese burger, served medium. Bacon crisp, raw onion, tomato slices, pickles, lettuce and a side of Zip sauce. Service is fantastic, friendly and fast. Ambiance is cozy, mood lighting reflects that and the atmosphere is just loud enough to hold a conversation.
